We feel honored to be included in that list.

Brian said..

I’ve found that a few CPA and accounting blogs really stand out above the others. Here’s my list of best accounting blogs for 2010.

My “Best of 2010″ List

AxiomCPA – Joey Brannon, CPA, P.C., does a nice job of mixing accounting content and general interest videos and comments in this easy-to-read blog.

Brumley’s Blog – Scott Brumley, CPA, offers accounting tips as well as comments on technology.

Deduct Me Blog – Kara Haas, CPA, P.C., writes this engaging blog and makes great use of catchy headlines to grab her readers’ attention.

Don’t Mess with Taxes – Journalist Kay Bell writes this informative blog providing tax and personal finance tips.

Empower Your Business – This blog focuses on accounting for businesses. Written by Nick Roberts of New Zealand.

The Fraud Files Blog – Tracy Coenen keeps this niche blog on fraud, scams, scandals, and court cases.

Golden Practices Blog – Michelle Golden provides this popular and high-profile blog, and she also publishes a fairly comprehensive list of accounting-related blogs.

The Leadership Notebook – Although this blog by leadership coach Mary Werner is for accountants themselves rather than their clients, I’m impressed by Ms. Werner’s signature in each post, which adds a personal touch, and her use of graphics and epigraphs.

It’s Taxing – Written by Bond Beebe accountants and advisors, this blog is clean, easy to read, and informative.

Phil Hogan’s blog – This chartered accountant’s blog is set up with several teaser posts on the home page that entice you to click and read more.

The Potts Report – Potts and Company, CPAs, make excellent use of images in their posts, and their headlines are short but also descriptive.

Small Business Blog – CPA firm Cherry, Bekaert & Holland provide this substantive blog on accounting for small businesses.

Social CPAs – Here’s another blog for accountants, and it addresses the important topic of “social media insights for the accounting profession.” Written by Barry MacQuarrie, CPA.

Taste of Taxes – The design of this blog is clean and the headlines are easy to read. Written by MaloneBailey LLP.

Your client portal provides you with 24/7 access to tax returns, financial statements, scanned source documents like W-2′s and stock transactions. You can safely store vital company information like settlement statements, wills, marriage license, divorce agreements, adoption papers, contracts, tax returns and support.

Access From Anywhere
This web-based portal system securely stores files and documents online so you access from home, officer or on the road.

Access When You Need It
My clients often find the idea of access to their information. They like having instant, anytime access to their tax returns and financial statement from any location once they see how quick and easy it is to view and print your returns,

Easy To Use
The familiar user-friendly “Windows Explorer” like interface means you will be able to start using the system right away without having to learn a thing. There’s no hardware or software to install and the system only takes a minute or two to setup.

Saves Time
The Online Document Management System makes it easy to find documents across your organization. You can instantly find your important files with a quick word search and no longer have to waste time looking for documents on someone else’s desk.

Secure and Compliant
The client portal provides encrypted file access and a highly secure storage environment.

All Types of Documents
Any file on a local computer can be placed in the portal. Including extremely large QuickBooks Backup Files, Microsoft Word Documents, PDF Documents, Excel Spreadsheets.

Organized Documents
I have organized documents into separately named file folders. The folders are organized in hierarchy of Cabinets, Folders, Sub-Folders, and Documents.

For Example:

Cabinet (Doe, John & Jane)
- Folder (Tax Returns)
- Sub-Folder (Filing Instructions)
- Document (2008-1040-Filing Instructions-Doe, John & Jane)
- Document (2009-1040-Filing Instructions-Doe, John & Jane)
            - Sub-Folder (Support)
- Document (2008-1040-Support-Doe, John & Jane)
- Document (2009-1040-Support-Doe, John & Jane)
- Sub-Folder (Income Tax Returns)
- Document (2008-1040-Return-Doe, John & Jane)
- Document (2009-1040-Return-Doe, John & Jane)

Access To Your Portal
When I prepare your return, I will send you an email with log-in instructions. The first time I will give you a temporary password. After logging in, you will be prompted to change your password to a permanent password only you will remember. You can access your portal anytime thereafter by going to our home page http://brumley.com and enter your username (email address) and the password you chose. If you have trouble we can always do a remote support session to help you.
